Holding a Mini North American Indigenous Games
On October 5, 2007, the Aboriginal Curriculum Project (ACIP) Team organized and held a Mini NAIG games at George Bonner Middle School in School District 79 (Cowichan Valley). The objective of the event was to raise the profile and awareness of the North American Indigenous Games in a middle school setting.
Other objectives of the Mini NAIG game concept included:
- Promoting physical activity and healthy lifestyles among students.
- Taking the opportunity to share and celebrate local Aboriginal culture.
- Promoting the Mini NAIG games as an active learning unit.

The organization of the Mini NAIG requires numerous steps to make the event a success at a school. These steps include the following:
- Speak with school principal and PE department head/teachers to discuss logistics and proceed with planning of the event.
- Inform and seek approval of school staff to hold the Mini games. (ie. Staff meeting agenda)
- Contact the Cowichan NAIG 2008 offices (Phone Number: 250-746-2008) and view
- Inform the NAIG 2008 staff of your goals and intentions for holding a Mini games event.
